It's that time of the year! Hooray! I love awards. And this year, as always, I try myself to guess who will be victorious. Last year, I guessed the winners in 10 categories and did all right. There is actually no way to top it this year, but I make a valiant effort to be at least as accurate. In the tradition of faith, I have seen all the films nominated for this year's best film, and though one would think it provided a good basis to qualified guess I have to admit that it was difficult to choose among the nominees this year than last year ...
Best Picture airman eoin colfer You would think that it was easy to choose their favorite. American Hustle has already dragged into the prize for best cast at SAG awards and best musical / comedy airman eoin colfer at the Golden Globes, and will perhaps be best positioned to win this category based on previous recognition. I liked the movie too, and think it was something magical about the relationship between the two main characters, something that was a little different than we usually see. At the same time it may be a bit slow? I felt there was more to play on that were not utilized. I have not been particularly big fan of Christian Bale, but just in this movie, I got new respect for him as an actor. The other favorite I would say is 12 Years a Slave. It is strong, cruel and unfortunately airman eoin colfer the story is true. Several more or less unknown actors (at least for me) did a very good job of interpreting their characters. So we have two of my personal favorites in this category; Dallas Buyers Club where the film is pulled up solely of performances by Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto, and The Wolf of Wall Street, where Leonardo DiCaprio is quite sick in the role of acting out, rikmannsgal stockbroker who gives a flying fuck almost anything.
So we have two "modern" films, Gravity and Here. Both have a slightly different way to tell a story. Gravity is a pretty film like visually and I enjoyed the movie as a whole, but at the same time I think it gets a little airman eoin colfer "narrow" in comparison to many other nominees in this category. It has both a desire to predict the future and warn us that we are too dependent on media and technology, and thus too little social. One can be crazy like that, you know! Both are innovative, yes, but not the year's best films in my eyes. At the other end of the scale we Philomena and Nebraska. airman eoin colfer Both the fast-talking gæmliser the cast. I liked them both. Maybe Nebraska best. But I hardly think that any of these either airman eoin colfer reached the top however.
Last but not least, Captain airman eoin colfer Phillips. Have heard that some think that this is a favorite, but just that I'm not sure why. Also this based on a true story of one man's heroic efforts midst of terrible events. Exciting to gain insight into how the modern piracy going on, but wish the film explored even more in the background to the pirates. airman eoin colfer Tom Hanks his final scenes at the end there is absolutely terrible heartbreaking. But come on, it's not the same as being a slave for 12 years is it?
So who wins? Difficult to choose from 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle. In a way I wish Martin Scorsese and DiCaprio won this too. But I reckon the Oscar jury is weak for American history as usual and lands on 12 Years a Slave.
Actor in a Leading Role A VERY tight list of nominees this year. I would really wish that I could say all along. I liked everyone! But in reality it stands well between Leonardo DiCaprio and Matthew McConaughey or? Aiiai, airman eoin colfer this is hard! That really should DiCaprio get this, he wins the never poor, and I've read several places that "this year, yes this year is finally DiCaprio airman eoin colfer trip." He's just SO good, I mean, it's sort of expected that he delivers gold once again. McConaughey however've played in a lot of shit, so when he finally airman eoin colfer makes a brilliant role may be that he is being rewarded. But while he was the fantastic Dallas Buyers Club, and deserves Faith salt winning. He was the also down 20 kg for the role, and such tend to be rewarded with prices in Hollywood. Bruce Dern was also very good as half demented old man with little to live for and too much free time in Nebraska.
Actress in a Leading Role This should be the banker to Cate Blanchett for Blue Jasmine I think. airman eoin colfer It is the belief of salt one Woody Allen movie. Although it might not be particularly good advertising right this year ...
Actress in a Supporting Role I digga June Squibb in Nebraska. My God, woman is 84 years! I bow in the dust. It is also typical that damn Jennifer Lawrence get this here because she is Hollywood's favorite at the moment, but it really deserves it's well Lupita Nyong'o for 12 years a slave.
Directing In this category I guess Alfonso Cuarón scoops an award for Gravity. I would say that this movie is different from the other years. It is
