Tonight in Los Angeles, the Golden Globes awarded. With three awards is David O. Russell's American Hustle the big winner. 12 Years a Slave seemed to be heading for 0 globes when it had the most nominations, but won off a long time at the end of the evening, yet the main awards, for best film in the category: Drama. On this website I'm talking about for weeks three films that the main contenders for the Oscars: 12 Years a Slave, American Hustle and Gravity. The main prizes are also divided among these three films, so it is difficult to say what this tells us about the Oscars. The price where it really matters, winning such a globe is nice of course, but an Oscar is the price.
The three major contenders divided the three major awards. 12 Years a Slave and American Hustle won the award for best film in their category and Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity) won for best director. So it can really three ways.
There were two duos that acting awards won last night: Amy Adams (Best actress comedy / musical) and Jennifer Lawrence (Best Supporting Actress) for American Hustle and Matthew McConaughey (Best Actor Drama) and Jared Leto (Best Supporting Actor) Dallas Buyers Club. The other two acting awards went rightly to Leonardo DiCaprio (The Wolf of Wall Street) for best actor comedy / musical and Cate Blanchet (Blue Jasmine) for best actress drama. Hopefully this DiCaprio delivers an Oscar nomination. Blanchett Oscar can actually junos simulator go pick up already.
Surprises? Yes they were there too. So Alex Ebert won for his score for All is Lost and U2 won for best song from the movie Mandela. McConaughey's victory at the expense of Ejiofor was also a little surprise. A surprise and I'm very happy with it, is the victory of Spike Jonze for his script of Her. A very well written script and a fantastic film. When you look at my predictions is to note that I predicted correctly. 9 of the 13 categories That could have been better, but surprises make the show more fun.
About the show itself, you can also be satisfied, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (who also won a Globe) are very good at times comical duo. Their opening was very strong and they keep a good loose tone of the globes fixed. Everyone is almost always drunk during these parties. And that brought both ladies good about. The speeches were very good, you can always see it as a kind of audition for the Oscars, especially DiCaprio, Blanchett and McConaughey were well out of the paint.
